Hands On Dogs

Why is this site called "Hands On Dogs"? Because there is no substitute for "hands on " practice by every dog owner. Training a dog makes it a welcome member of modern society. My goal is to achieve a dog that has confidence in me as its handler, and in itself, in any situation.

Besides, I believe that using our hands while teaching a dog is necessary, especially to stroke and praise. We need to build a dog's trust in our touch, even when we guide and restrain it., Obedience training is not merely tricks, performed for treats. it is a bond between handler and dog of mutual loyalty and responsibility.

The site includes a variety of information on:
  • obedience training

  • dog behaviour

  • training techniques

  • conformation and structure

  • the CKC "Canine Good Neighbour" program

  • retraining problem dogs

  • CKC Obedience Trial events and news
